Abnormal dopamine transporter imaging in pure autonomic failure - a follow-up study
Pure autonomic failure is a rare neurodegenerative disease marked by autonomic failure, primarily neurogenic orthostatic hypotension, along with erectile dysfunction and gastrointestinal issues. Research at Queen Square since 1973 examines biomarkers like DaTscan for central nervous system involvement. The study reveals that while some patients remain stable, others may progress to Lewy body disorders. The findings stress the need for neuroimaging and biomarkers to better understand disease progression and early detection.Speaker: Giacomo Chiaro
