• Neuroimaging in Parkinson's Disease

    Learning Objectives: 
    • Understand the role of DAT-SPECT and PET in the diagnosis and monitoring of Parkinson's disease and related synucleinopathies. 
    • Describe the key MRI findings that support the diagnosis of PD and help differentiate it from atypical parkinsonisms (MSA, PSP, CBS). 
    • Explain how neuroimaging can detect dopaminergic dysfunction in the prodromal and early stages of Parkinson's disease. 
    • Discuss the use of molecular and metabolic PET imaging in characterising motor and non-motor features of PD. 
    • Evaluate the role of neuroimaging as a biomarker for disease progression and as an outcome measure in clinical trials.
