Dr Katarzyna Smilowska is a neurologist with expertise in Movement Disorders and works at the 5th Regional Hospital in Sosnowiec, Poland. She received her PhD from the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice, Poland, in 2017. Following this, she was awarded with EAN research fellowship at the Department of Neurology, Radboud University medical center in Nijmegen, under the supervision of Prof. Bas Bloem. Shortly after, she undertook a fellowship at the Clinical Movement Disorders Group led by Prof. Kailash Bhatia at the Queen Square. Dr Smilowska continued her research activities at the Christian-Albrechts University in Kiel, Germany, under the supervision of Prof. Günther Deuschl. She was part of the steering committee for the new EAN/MDS guideline on Invasive Therapies in Parkinson's disease and was also part of the LEAP class of 2020. Currently, Dr. Smilowska is on the steering committee for the EAN/MDS guideline on oral therapies in Parkinson's disease under the supervision of Prof. Elena Moro. Her main clinical activities involve patients with Parkinson's disease, dystonia, and rare movement disorders. She is the Editor of MDS Moving Along.
