Prof. Celia Oreja-Guevara is Vice Chair of Neurology at the University Hospital San Carlos and Professor of Neurology at the University Complutense, Madrid, Spain. After gaining her medical degree from the University of Madrid, she completed her PhD thesis in Neuroimmunology at the Max Planck Institute of Neurobiology, Munich, Germany. Since then, she has held several posts in Germany, Italy and Spain. She is Management Group Member of the Multiple Sclerosis Panel and a member of the Education Committee of the EAN. She serves as an expert for the Scientific Advisory Group on Neurology of the European Medicines Agency. Her research interests include family planning, the use of optical coherence tomography, symptomatic therapy, and the evaluation of new drugs for the treatment of MS and NMO. In addition, Professor Oreja Guevara has held leadership positions in a number of national organisations and academic societies, including the Demyelinating Diseases Group and the Neuroimaging Group of the Spanish Neurological Society. She has participated as a principal investigator in several MS and NMO clinical trials.
