Didier LEYS is Professor of Neurology at the University of Lille where he chaired the stroke unit and the neurological department during 25 years before leaving the responsibility to Prof. Charlotte Cordonnier. He has been President of the French Stroke Society (1998-2000), of the European Stroke Organisation (2010-2012), of the French Neurological Society (2014-2015) and General secretary of the European Academy of Neurology (2014-2018). He is currently member of the French Academy of Medicine (since December 2015) and serves as Editor-in-Chief of the European Journal of Neurology (since 2020). His main research fields are cognitive disorders associated with stroke, cervical artery dissections, and organisation of acute stroke care.
